Frank's Fund

Celebrating a Life well-lived.

Frank was a valued member of the Pals to Paws family, including being an inspiration for our original logo. We said a "see you later" to this sweet pup on May 15th, 2024 due to cancer.

Though gone, we remember Frank for his uplifting spirit. He never knew a stranger, whether human, dog, cat...or even squirrel. He brought a smile to countless lives while he was with us.

In Frank's kind spirit, we want to honor his legacy by making a difference in the lives of other pets and their families, by working to prevent, treat, and cure pet cancer.

Frank's Cancer Story

Frank had shown signs of distress, but issues that were dismissed as age and bladder decease. He went undiagnosed for too long.

When Frank was unwilling to move, unwilling to use the bathroom, we knew something was off about our normally sweet and energetic pup. We returned to the vet, and after pressing, they did an ultrasound and discovered a mass that x-rays couldn't discover.

We were told Frank would need to see a specialist, and once he was able to do so, we were told the cancer had reached a point of no return.

The Lesson Learned

As a pet owner, we wish our furry loved ones could tell us when they're in pain or uncomfortable. We wish they could tell us they're hurting.

We depend on the care of veterinarians to tell us what we don't or can't know when we bring them a pet in pain.

Cancer screening isn't always on the forefront of a diagnosis, but it widely effects many pets, and subsequently, many families.

We've learned that the keys are prevention, screening, and treatment as soon as you're able. For that reason, we're establishing Frank's Fund.

The Goal of Frank's Fund

The goal of Frank's Fund is to raise funds to provide a grant specified for pet cancer research, prevention, screening, treatment, and hopefully one day, a cure.

Our goal is to fund the grant at $10,000, and continue to fundraise to sustain the grant for year's to come, with an annual goal of $10,000.

The grant will be purposed towards both veterinary research and services, as well as families in need.

Though we were too late to beat Frank's cancer diagnosis, we were lucky to get him the utmost care at the University of Georgia Veterinary Teaching Hospital – this hospital also happens to be one of the best in the country. We know not everyone is as lucky as we are to live close to such a great care, but we want all pet owners to have access to the care their pets need, especially when it comes to cancer.

The grant will go to support establishments such as these, research, prevention and screening at the local levels, and any other facets of pet care that cancer can impact.
